Laura Mahal

Laura Mahal wears a number of hats. When she isn't writing five thousand words a day for NaNoWriMo, Laura bakes banana bread, prepares homemade chai, gardens, volunteers, shares space with rattlesnakes on a trail, and copyediting for fellow writers. She also enjoys a good nap now and then.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Studies from The American University and a Master of Science in Management. Laura is a featured poet in the recently released Sunrise Summits anthology. Her award-winning flash fiction story "Firmly Rooted Policy" is available on eBook at the Poudre River Public Library. Beyond that, she keeps the U.S. Postal Service alive and thriving with a daily dispensation of old-fashioned paper correspondence.

Laura writes literary fiction and humor, though her most recent adventure is an edgy YA novel fusing teen identity and time travel. Because she believes in following her own advice, or, in this case, honoring William Faulkner's astute observation "if a story is in you, it has to come out."

As of the first of December, Laura will take over the post of NCW Member Liaison. Stop by and introduce yourself when you have a moment!
