Jingle Bells, sort of

By Ronda Simmons

Writing Days

(sung to the tune of Jingle Bells)

(with apologies to James Lord Pierpont)

Dashing down some prose
On a three espresso day
To writer's group I'll go
Buzzing all the way

Bells on cell phones ring
Concentration's gone
How great it is to talk awhile
Pretending work is done!

Oh writing days, writing days
Writing all the day
Oh what stress it is to write
When the deadline is today.

Writing days, writing days
Writing all the day
Oh what stress it is to write
When the deadline is today.

     A month or two ago
     I thought I'd write a book
     And soon my writing friends
Came by to take a look

The words were few and lame
     The ending was no shock
They helped me with the plot loopholes
     And now the story rocks!

Oh writing days, writing days
Writing all the day
Oh what stress it is to write
When the deadline is today.

Writing days, writing days
Writing all the day
Oh what stress it is to write
When the deadline is today.

Now the screen is blank
I haven't got a clue
What to write today
I think I have the flu

Or  maybe I'm just tired
I think I'll take a nap
Tomorrow is another day
My muse will soon be back

Oh writing days, writing days
Writing all the day
Oh what stress it is to write
When the deadline is today.

Writing days, writing days
Writing all the day
Oh what stress it is to write
When the deadline is today.

Well done, Ronda. I admit it, I had to sing the post to see if it worked. :D
