Soul Purpose Writer

by Tracee Sioux

You've been called by your Soul to write.

You know how I know this? I've been a writer for my entire life and I know first hand that it can suck, suck, suck. I'm also a Spiritual Business & Life Coach who teaches people how to find and live their Soul's Purpose. So, you could say I've made a life long study of these two things: Writing and Soul Purpose.

No one in their right mind would choose to become a writer if their Soul didn't call them to it. Because the profession has declined into a hobby with the advent of the Internet.

The Internet has brought the first true form of Freedom of Speech, and so everyone thinks they can be a writer. And they can. But that moves the craft from profession to hobby.

Those of us who have hung in there over the last 20 years are so work to support the art. We do marketing and content writing. We get paid .12 cents a word for feature articles in magazines. We write free content up the ying yang and throw it out into the Universe hoping that someone will notice... or we become real estate agents, teachers or insurance brokers to support the art.

Does that make writing unworthy of our time, energy and love?

It does not.

Because if your Soul has called you to this then write you must. In order to be happy.

Correction: in order to be sane.

Further Correction: in order to stay alive.

Express or Depressed. That's the rule for a Soul Purpose Writer.

How do you know if your Soul is calling you to write?
1. When you do it you reach a Flow state.
2. If you answer the question "what would you do if you had a million dollars and didn't have to work?" with the answer "Write."
3. If you are pestered with ideas for books, blog posts and articles and these ideas won't leave you be.
4. If you feel guilt or angst for not writing.
5. If not writing makes you depressed or anxious.

Writing is not everyone's Soul purpose. And here's how you know:
1. You do not enjoy it.
2. You don't have ideas for what to write.
3. You only want to "have written."
In which case, this gig is too hard and it doesn't have any ROI so just get out of the game and stick to what your true passion is.

Is writing a Soul Purpose calling for you?

Oh, you bet. My soul has called me to write and create for years. However, I only half listened to it. It's only in the last few months where I discovered what it was looking for.
