Wednesday Rerun: To Do List

by Sarah Sullivan

Snowy TreeYes, that’s right! For those of you with a fantastic memory this is indeed a reprint of the post I wrote last Holiday Season. Why? Because, once again, I'm in a down-to-the-last-minute situation, only this time with sick children. Ahhhh the joys of parenthood! What is it they say about doom and history repeating itself? One day, perhaps, I will learn. In the meantime, enjoy!

Holiday To do List:

Find Christmas tree on which all 5 family members can agree.

Decorate tree and house in festive accoutrement

Attend holiday concerts at three different schools
Make  and deliver spicy pecans for neighbors and friends

Shop for Families in Need program

Send out thoughtful yet inexpensive gifts to husband’s huge family

Research ways to entertain children over 16 day holiday break

Pack for ski trip

Rifle through all 2014 pictures to find perfect family photo

Design New Year’s Card

Send said card to 100 closest friends

Clean house for entertaining

Shop for gifts

Come up with creative holiday gifts for teachers

Prepare 3 special meals

Celebrate 14th anniversary

Write a blog post for NCW -Whoops! I knew I forgot something!

…or perhaps I was simply overwhelmed by the task of writing a meaningful piece to capture the spirit of the holiday season. So instead I offer you, dear reader, this poem to highlight the simple beauty that is often overlooked in the rush and chaos of December.

Winter Haiku

A baby boy born
Eight lights on a winters night
Solstice moon shines high

However you celebrate this Holiday, may you be blessed with the light and love of the season surrounded by family and friends and grateful for all life’s blessings.

Happy Holidays to all!

OMG, Sarah! I was thinking about doing a repeat post for mine for tomorrow--December 31. Right this minute I am on the road coming home from holiday traveling and have yet to write my post? Would you think I was a terrible person ifI did so??
