A few weeks back, I had the privilege of hearing Dr. Joan King speak at a Colorado Women of Influence breakfast. Physically, Joan is a small women, but her warmth, positive energy and smile fill a room when she enters. Her background is fascinating. After high school she entered a Dominican Convent and stayed for eleven years. Following that she went on to get her Ph.D. in Neurosciences and Psychology and spent 25 years doing research in neuroscience. She is now a Master Certified Coach helping people realize their life dreams and purpose.
Her message that morning was all about creating a new story for ourselves. Using experiences from our past, we can create the life we want. "Believe in what you are going forth with," she said. You must find your purpose, be your authentic self and live the life you were meant to live.
What she said resonated with me on a deep level and really caused me to examine my life. It was powerful. I am thrilled that Dr. King will be teaching two sessions at the Northern Colorado Writers Conference on Friday afternoon and I know whoever attends those sessions will leave inspired and encouraged.
She ended her talk with this video that she created and she gave me permission to use it. Enjoy.
