Last Monday Book: Your Choice

Post by Jenny

Even having five Mondays in July wasn’t enough to prepare me for today, and consequently I don’t have a Last Monday Book to share with you. So I thought I’d open up the floor to anyone who wants to recommend a book about writing. (Or if you’d like to mention one that you didn’t find to be very helpful, that’s okay, too.)

Because of Maggie’s Friday post, I already have one new book on my list. I hope that over the next few days, I’ll be able to add many more thanks to your comments.

And please enjoy this bit of humor on your Monday, courtesy of Inkygirl:

Plot & Structure: Techniques and exercises for crafting a plot that grips readers from start to finish

And...

Revision & Self-Editing: Techniques for transforming your first draft into a finished novel

by James Scott Bell

are two books I've found useful. Also I've seen good comments about:

Thirteen Ways of Looking at the Novel by Jane Smiley

Also: These two by Laraine Herring:

The Writing Warrior: Discovering the Courage to Free Your True Voice & The Writing Warrior: Discovering the Courage to Free Your True Voice are re-reads for me at least once each year.
