Help Wanted: Advice for Bloggers

On Monday I will be teaching a class at the Northern Colorado Writers studio on blogging. This class is designed for bloggers who are ready to take their blog to the next level. They are interested in delving further into the blogosphere, getting more followers and even monetizing their blog.

So, for those of you have been blogging for a while, I would love your input on this: what do you know now that you wish you would have implemented earlier on in your blogging journey?

Things I wish I'd done:

*involve the reader in every post (questions, etc)

*include a graphic in every post

*comment on other blogs - give & take

I wish I had saved (with a copy and paste to Word) and printed a copy of every single post as soon as it published (so I have the photos included with the text). It's going to take me forever to go back and pick up the ones I haven't done yet.

Oh how wonderful! Blogging has come such a long way. When I started mine in 2007, I had no idea what I was doing. That was before people used to "follow" each other. I joined a writers group, and we posted regularly and commented on each other's work. Before then, I hadn't even heard of blogging! My favorite part about it is meeting other writers and forming cyber-friendships. Then it's really fun when I meet them at blogger get-togethers and writer conferences. I've learned so much professionally and I never would have been able to do that had I not been a part of the blogging world. Best of luck with your seminar and I look forward to reading about it.
