Music While You Write

There are times when I am writing that I like a little music when I am working. My daughter shared with me a great online music station that lets you pick the kind of music you want to listen to. You can taylor each "station" to play the kind of music you want.

Pandora Radio is a free service. You just need to go to the site and sign up. Then you can set up a new station. You type in a song or artist you like and the website randomly picks songs that are similar to the one you typed in. You can add more songs, artists to your station or set up different stations. If a song comes on that you don't like, you can click on the thumbs down icon and it will take it off. If you like a song, click on the thumbs up and it will add more to your station that are similar.

I have a couple of stations set up. When I am writing I like mellow instrumental music on so I picked New Age Ambient. It is great and doesn't distract my thoughts. At other times I am working on my website or something that doesn't take a lot of creative thought and I put on my John Mayer station which is a mix of adult contemporary and country.

Anyway, try Pandora Radio. It is a great way to add music to your life and it is FREE!

Happy Listening!

Thanks for the tip. Personally, I LOVE to listen to music while I type. It sets my mood or helps maintain my mood as I'm writing. I rarely write without music in my head. Not only does it keep my frame of reference in the right mood, but it blocks out most distracting noises.
