Y.A. or Not Y.A, That is the Question

There was a great essay in the New York Times Sunday Book Review by author Margo Rabb, I'm Y.A. and I'm O.K. In this piece she explains her struggle in dealing with the idea that Random House wanted to publish her recent novel as a Young Adult book instead of her originally intended audience-adults. Some of us may think-who cares-at least she was offered a book deal, but she brings up some interesting points. Read it and let me know what you think.

I was recently shocked to see that "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty White written in the 1940s/50s is housed in the Young Adult section of our very busy public library. It has been named by the New York Public Library as "one of the books of the century." It's about as classic as they come. Interesting...I wonder how Betty White would feel about that category today?
